It’s a normal day at the Bundy residence as Peg Bundy (Katey Segal) is rummaging through her husband’s pants looking for money so she can go shopping, but in Peg’s case, it’s typically not for food for the family, but rather personal items for herself like chocolate candy, cigarettes, clothing and shoes.

When Al discovers his wife has once again pick-pocketed his wallet, he warns her to “Never leave me with empty pants again.”

The expression inspires the name of cartoon character, so Peg begins to draw cartoon images of her husband which she then develops into a comic feature for Modern Gal magazine featuring “a hapless loser” of a man (actually her husband, Al). The name Mr. Empty Pants was a sexual put-down for Al’s lack of manhood.

However, when Playgirl magazine believes Al to be a sex symbol and wants him as a centerfold (with bikini-clad babes), a jealous Peggy kills off Mr. Empty Pants saying, “I couldn’t handle your happiness, so I killed you (crushed by a meteorite shaped like a lady’s shoe). “Did I suffer?” asks Al? “Sure!” Peggy quips.
