The family nickname of James Anderson, Jr. (Billy Gray), the second oldest of three children from Springfield, Illinois on the sitcom FATHER KNOWS BEST/CBS/NBC/ABC/1954-63.


All the kids in the family also had nicknames. His two sisters were Betty “Princess” Anderson (Elinor Donahue); and Kathy “Kitten” Anderson (Lauren Chapin).

Note: On the sitcom MARRIED…WITH CHILDREN/FOX/1987-97, David Faustino played a girl-chasing boy named Budrick “Bud” Bundy (middle name is Franklin). As he once said to his father, “I was named after a beer, wasn’t I dad?”

Larry “Bud” Melman was the pseudonym of actor Calvert DeForest who appeared in sight gags and silly sketches on NBC’s LATE NIGHT WITH DAVID LETTERMAN in the 1980s and 1990s.


Born in Philadelphia, Jerome Alphonse Holst worked 30 years as a librarian. He has since retired and lives in Greensboro, North Carolina. Mr. Holst is also the author of the children’s books “Norman the Troll,” "Norman the Troll and the Haunted House," and "Gretchen and the Gremlins." In addition, he penned the fantasy novel “The Adventures of Glinda Gale,” a retelling of “The Wizard of Oz" and the reference text “The Encyclopedia of Movie and TV Insults.” .
